작가노트

고대 동굴 벽화에서 현대적 표현에 이르기까지 그 뿌리를 추적하면서 예술의 본질을 탐구하고, 성찰하는 과정에서 나는 예술을 자아, 기억, 그리고 자아의 융합으로 보게 되었다.
유휴 시간 - 인간 경험의 표현, 손자국은 현대의 그래피티와 마찬가지로 자아를 상징하는 반면, 웅장한 사냥 장면은 주목할만한 순간의 기념관이 되며, 예술을 위해서는 전통적인 포장을 거부하고 자연의 아름다움을 복잡하게 포착해야 한다고 믿고 있다. 또한 나의 창작 과정은 의식을 초월하여 희망, 힘, 인간 정신을 전달하는 것을 목표로 자아, 기억, 나태에 대한 질문과 얽혀 있으며, 비선형적이고 예측할 수 없는 나의 예술은 관객이 완성된 작품을 넘어 창조의 여정을 생각해 보도록 유도하고자 했다. 궁극적으로 나는 내 방식대로 창조하고 나 자신과 기술, 경험을 세상과 공유하려고 노력하고 있다.

테리 전(Terry Chun)은 한국에 거주하는 한국계 미국인 화가로 아이오와 대학교에서 Ceramic도자기를 공부했고, 자연 애호가입니다.

Artist’s statement:
In my artistic exploration, I reflect on the essence of art, tracing its roots from ancient cave paintings to contemporary expressions. I see art as a fusion of ego, memory, and
idle time—manifestations of the human experience. Handprints symbolize ego, akin to modern graffiti, while grand hunting scenes become memorials of noteworthy moments.
I believe in capturing the beauty of nature intricately, rejecting conventional packaging for art. My creative process intertwines with questions about ego, memory, and idleness, aiming to transcend consciousness and convey hope, strength, and the human spirit. My art, nonlinear and unpredictable, invites viewers to delve beyond the finished work, contemplating the journey of creation. Terry Chun is a Korean/American painter living in South Korea. He studied ceramics at the University of Iowa. He is currently teaching English at a local university. Terry is also a founding member of the Korean National team for table soccer, a member of a local art club, and a nature enthusiast.
